Out in the deep of the darkness
While the land is sound asleep
I stare out, soaking in the calmness
When suddenly i hear a faint weep
...A lonely whipperwail calls out to the deep...
Lightning bugs dance about, talking with the night
Stars in the far away distance
Ansewer back with their twinkeling light
A strong breeze awakens the trees
Leaves begin to whisper...
I do believe i heard one say -'can't she let us be?'
Quietness has ceased
As a train rumbles through
It's shrill whistle echos across my mountain
Breaking the silence into
The moon's glow rests on my face
My eyelids feel the need of sleep
I stare one last time off into space...
Then close my eyes to dream of the deep...
